Menteri ESDM saat ini, Bahlil Lahadalia, turut berduka cita atas kepergian Darwin Zahedy Saleh. Bahlil mengungkapkan rasa dukanya melalui unggahan di media sosial dan langsung melayat ke rumah duka. “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun. Darwin Zahedy Saleh lahir di Sapat, Indragiri Hilir, Riau, pada 29 Oktober 1960. Dia adalah putra dari pasangan HM Saleh dan Hj. Raja Pujian S. Pada usia 10 tahun, Darwin pindah ke Jakarta dan menetap di kawasan Kemayoran. Darwin menempuh pendidikan S1 di Fakultas Ekonomi Universitas Indonesia (FEUI) jurusan Ilmu Ekonomi, kemudian meraih gelar S2 dalam bidang Administrasi Bisnis dari Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU), Tennessee, Amerika Serikat, dan gelar doktor (S3) di bidang Manajemen dari Universitas Indonesia.

Karier profesional Darwin dimulai sebagai dosen di FEUI sejak tahun 1986. Selain mengajar, dia slot kamboja juga berkiprah di berbagai bidang seperti keuangan, perbankan, dan konsultan manajemen. Pada tahun 2009, Darwin dipercaya menjabat sebagai Menteri ESDM dalam Kabinet Indonesia Bersatu II di bawah kepemimpinan Presiden SBY, menggantikan Purnomo Yusgiantoro.
